Summary:

A non-essential product but one that’s fun and good quality nonetheless. Great if you like your protein shakes as smooth as possible.

What is a PROMiXX Vortex Mixer?

Well, it’s essentially a sports supplement shaker with an actual electronic mixer part which blends up your protein shakes at the push of a button.

Which, really, is as ridiculous as it sounds.

So of course I had to try one out – it would be rude not to!

Product overview

You can tell from their website that the PROMiXX is branded as being a revolutionary product that you just simply have to buy if you drink protein shakes on a regular basis.

And I’m not going to lie, it seemed like a crock of shit when I was reading about it.

But I’ve actually been quite surprised with the product.

However the PROMiXX shaker is by no means cheap.

In fact, it’s going to set you back over £30 if you want to grab it with the ‘upgrade pack’ which includes an awesome USB rechargeable battery.

A little different from the £3 Maximuscle shaker I usually get from Tesco!

But that doesn’t blend up my protein for me – I have to use my pathetic hands for that.

The blender element

Let’s start with the blender function.

Does it work well?

Actually, it really does.

Load up your liquid, stick the protein on top, close the lid, press the button, and boom, immediate smooth shake.

OK, so that bit is pretty obvious, that’s what you pay £30 for it to do.

But what’s different from the PROMiXX Vortex Shaker and a normal shaker is that it produces ridiculously smooth shakes.

We’re talking smoother than me down Wetherspoons Solihull on a Saturday night after 14 pints of Deuchars – i.e. really damn smooth.

This is probably due to the soft plastic used for the mixer element.

I mean, it would even mix up a solid weight gainer, such as Mutant Mass or Serious Mass, into something that was really drinkable, leaving no bits at all.

Impressive.

Daily use

I don’t use the PROMiXX Shaker at the gym or out and about as it’s just simply not convenient enough.

I’d rather just use a shitty old shaker and bung it in my bag afterwards than faff about with a battery pack.

It also says it’s 100% leak proof, and that may be true when mixing and drinking, but I wouldn’t trust the little lid on the top to stay leak proof in my gym bag.

Where the shaker really becomes useful for me is at home in the kitchen.

I’ve started using it to mix up eggs for scrambled eggs or pancakes, mix up my greens in the morning, and blend up thick milkshakes like a boss.

If you regularly indulge in a protein dessert (such as this one from Bulk Powders that I reviewed recently) the PROMiXX Vortex will mix it up to an absolutely perfect consistency.

In fact, I’d say they might even want to release the product as a kitchen accessory at some point, maybe with a little redesign.

Quality

I have to say the quality of the PROMiXX Vortex Shaker is excellent.

Everything about it, from the presentation of the box to the branding, is really spot on.

The shaker itself is made from a solid kind of plastic, unlike any shaker cup I’ve used before.

This basically means that if you leave it in the sink without washing it up in the morning (which, let’s face it, we all do) it won’t smell like rotting egg farts when you come back from work.

Value for money

Do you need to spend £18 on a shaker bottle?

Absolutely not.

But do you also need an iPhone 6 Plus eight months after getting an iPhone 5s?

Absolutely not.

This is a premium product and as such I wouldn’t recommend getting it over some decent omega 3s or whey protein if you’re bodybuilding on a budget.

But if you’ve got some cash to spare and fancy a treat, it’s pretty nifty around the kitchen.

Verdict

The PROMiXX Vortex Shaker is a completely non-essential sports supplement product, but one that’s fun and good quality nonetheless.

You’d be happy to have it around, especially if you like your mass gaining shakes or protein desserts as smooth as possible.

Have you tried this newfangled shaker?

What’s the verdict?

Is it an important part of your gym regimen or as essential as the condom festering in Adrian Chiles’ wallet?

  1. Whilst I’m not averse to the odd gimmick; the thing that puts me off buying something like this is I know I’ll just start pushing the boundaries of what the blender can take.

Could be great way of whipping up a steak tartare but ultimately I’ll just break it.

  2. Promixx does a good job, got to check Fuelshaker Pro!

    This is a game changer.

  3. Worked great for a week and now it hardly spins at all.

    Very disappointed.

Waiting to hear back from the company of how they plan on resolving this

  4. I bought one intending to use it as a Christmas gift.

It arrived packaged in a flimsy post satchel that had torn and the product packaging was damaged and torn.

Ungiftable as it looked secondhand or like a factory second at best.

Promixx will not respond to my email enquiries.

I bought it because I have a generic one that I bought from AliExpress for $10.

In comparing the two I have found that they are identical and that the Promixx is just a cheap product rebranded.

Given that I now own two, I will do an objective review and comparison of them in an upcoming YouTube video.

  5. Awful customer service.

3 years late on their product.

Good luck getting a resolution from the company.
