Old school bodybuilding fuel!
Peanut butter has always been a favourite of the hardcore bodybuilder – after all there can’t be many foods that are high in calories, protein and deliciousness.
That definitely made sense.
And in conjunction with some of MuscleFood’s brilliant protein bread, we now have the basis for a highly efficient bulking snack:
The classic peanut butter sandwich.
Nuts ‘N More Peanut Butter is a 100% natural spread fortified with flax, whey protein and no added salt.
My only qualm with this product is that it’s not a crunchy peanut butter.
However I’m pretty sure that this is an age-old argument that’ll divide opinion like Israel vs Palestine, Man vs Food, and Brown vs The Board of Education.
Anyway, the product recommended that I should stir after opening which made me a bit sceptical about how much oil there would be.
This was not the case.
Nuts ‘N More Peanut Butter was both ideally textured and beautifully flavoured.
I would happily – and did often – eat it with just a spoon.
Per 30g serving (which lets face it, is far less than you’ll have per serving), the nutritional breakdown looks like this:
Calories | 206kcal |
Protein | 14g |
Carbs (of which sugar) | 6g (0.99g) |
Fat (of which saturates) | 14g (1g) |
Marvelous.
The sat fat figure is particularly impressive for a peanut butter.
I think we can all agree that Reece’s Pieces are just about the greatest snack to make its way across the Atlantic.
The issue is they’re just not that great for you.
Enter stage right: Nuts ‘N More Chocolate Peanut Butter, which has exactly the same nutritional breakdown as the aforementioned peanut butter.
I’d be naive to suggest this tastes just as good, of course it didn’t.
But as a way of getting that perfect blend between salty and sweet, and a decent nutritional hit as well, it’s an absolute winner.
Top tip: spread this stuff thickly between two slices of protein bread and put it in a sandwich maker for a couple of minutes.
Heavenly.
NB: please wait a few minutes before eating, it’s like fucking molten lava inside!
Each 30g serving of both the Nuts ‘N More Peanut Butter and the Chocolate Peanut Butter will cost you £0.50.
That means a 450g tub will cost you £7.49!
Yes, that’s a bit more than you’ll pay for supermarket natural peanut butter, but this version will definitely have much better nutritional stats.
So if you’re serious about serious bulk then I know you’ll make the right choice.
All in all, here are two more great products available from the MuscleFood website.
What’s more, if you’re feeling adventurous, then from the same range you can also get:
And as almonds seem to be the in thing right now, I think I know what I’ll be ordering next.
(Not the cinnamon one – I like to live dangerously but there’s a limit.)
As I said before, Nuts ‘N More natural peanut butters are the perfect accompaniment to protein bread, or, if you have a blender, spoon it into your whey protein to bulk up your post-workout shake.
Versatility my friend, delicious versatility.
