Summary:

TPW's cookies are a delicious, protein rich snack that simultaneously satisfy cravings and provide the perfect protein injection for anyone on the move.

Although protein shakes are by far and away the most popular protein supplements, there are a number of alternatives on the market.

Do you own a hat with corks hanging from the brim and a two foot long knife?

Why not try an ostrich egg.

Do you watch MTV reality TV?

Are you a complete blithering c**t?

Then protein alcohol is probably for you.

Admittedly I have tried neither of these, but I have tried Protein Cookies from The Protein Works, which I’m happy to say are ruddy wonderful.

Product overview

The Protein Works Protein Cookies ReviewThese are soft-baked cookies (like those ones you get from Subway) which contain roughly 37g of protein and 315 kcal per serving.

They come in two “natural” flavours (Choc Caramel Chunk and White Choc Macadamia) and function as a convenient snack for the bodybuilder on the go or a great post or pre-workout meal.

It should be pointed out, for all you nutrition freaks out there, that like similar products in the sports nutrition field, some of the protein in these cookies is derived from gelatin.

Before any of you keyboard warriors start whining that gelatin is not a good source of protein, this ingredient only accounts for a tiny percentage of the total protein count, and bear in mind it is gelatin that helps keep the cookies soft and tasty.

Taste and texture

TPW’s protein cookies taste just like regular cookies.

By that I mean they have a chewy and gooey texture like you’d expect.

Which is great, because with most protein cookies it seems like someone at the factory has just taken a rolling pin to a regular protein bar and repackaged it.

Also, just like TPW’s Protein Flapjacks, they don’t take require a 30 minute mouth workout either.

Naturally they taste a little bit more ‘proteiny’ than your regular cookie, but that’s why you’re here right?

Value for money

These protein cookies are priced at £1.79 per serving, or £17.99 for a box of 12.

This makes them £1 more expensive than the Myprotein cookies (£16.99 for 12), but, trust me, these ones taste considerably better.

And TPW don’t skimp on size too.

Relatively speaking these things are pretty damn big.

Summary

protein cookiesTPW’s cookies are a delicious, protein rich snack that provide the perfect protein injection for the bodybuilder on the go.

The only problem is they taste so good it’s easy to binge eat them.

I took my eye off the ball for a second and I’d hoovered up half a box.

And while they are not as calorific as regular cookies, they still have a reasonably high sugar and fat percentage (10g fat and 6.5g sugar per cookie).

So this morishness could spell trouble for that lean physique you’ve been working so hard on.

So if you’re the type of person who enjoys a bottle of wine a day, slot machines and heroin, I’d advise you to steer clear of this product.

Otherwise you’ll end up addicted and ruin any hope of that ultra-lean physique you’ve been working towards.
