Summary:

A high protein, low carb, 100% natural snack which tastes fantastic. Highly recommended if you're looking for a convenient protein fix between meals and what to try something a bit different.

I was so ruddy impressed with The Protein Works Whey Protein 80 that I decided to try another one of their products.

Being a bit fed up with my usual diet of fish, eggs and tuna – as well as protein shakes so sweet they tasted like Gok Wan’s ballbag – I felt like trying something a little different.

Over the last few weeks I’d noticed a lot of chatter on The Protein Work’s Facebook page about their new Whey and Oat Crisp Flapjacks.

I like protein, I like flapjacks.

What could go wrong?

NB this logic doesn’t always apply.

I also like Guiness and Cheerios – never mixing those two again.

Product overview

There are quite a few protein flapjacks on the market, but this one stands out for a number of reasons.

This is mainly down to the fact that each 80g bar contains 19g of premium quality whey protein isolate.

This pure protein content immediately puts it ahead of the majority of its competitors which use only milk protein concentrate and whey protein concentrate.

In addition, these flapjacks also contain whey isolate crisps and low GI carbs, making this product a superb snack for those looking to build muscle, lose fat, or just keep hunger at bay between meals.

Taste and texture

The Protein Works Whey & Oat Crisp Flapjack ReviewThis is an area where The Protein Works are really leaving their competitors behind.

The choice to make these flapjacks 100% natural pays off dividends in the taste department.

The only flavour currently available is ‘Dark Choc Chunk’, and the combination of natural flavours and real dark chocolate chip pieces is simply delicious.

Most protein bars on the market are tough and dry, which means you need to have a jaw like Will Young just to masticate them.

In other words, it’s like performing cunnilingus on a plastic vagina.

These bars, however, are moist and chewy, so they don’t leave your face aching afterwards.

They’re quite simply a pleasure to eat.

Value for money

Obviously protein bars are not nearly as good value for money as powders.

You’re essentially paying for convenience here.

The Protein Work’s Whey and Oat Crisp Flapjacks are priced at £1.99 per bar – or 12 for £18.99.

This is a similar price to other brands on the market, however the quality and taste of these bars puts them way ahead of the competition, making for excellent value for money.

Summary

The Protein Work’s Whey and Oat Crisp Flapjacks are a high protein, low carb, 100% natural snack which taste fantastic.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a convenient protein fix between meals, and want to try something a bit different.

All in all, another great product from The Protein Works!

  1. I tried the PhD version (bar rather than flapjack) it was vile, couldn’t finish it.

    Too dense

    1. Yeah, there’s a lot of bars out there that are frankly unpalatable.

Give this one a go though – without doubt the easiest bar to digest that I’ve tried.
